What questions would someone like you have for a coach like me?

Q. 1. What is the difference between therapy and coaching?

A. I often tell people that coaching is not therapy although, it can be therapeutic. Overall, therapy and coaching are both forms of support aimed at helping individuals and teams make positive changes in their lives. There can be overlap between the two, but they often differ in their focus, approach, and goals. Therapy primarily focuses on addressing psychological and emotional issues. It deals with mental health concerns, unresolved trauma, emotional distress, and diagnosable mental disorders. Therapists work with clients to explore their past experiences, emotions, and behaviors to promote healing and personal growth. Coaching, on the other hand, is generally focused on helping individuals set and achieve goals, improve performance, and develop specific skills including emotional resilience, capacity, and capability. It is future-oriented and aims to enhance personal and professional development. Coaches collaborate with clients to identify their strengths, clarify their aspirations, and create action plans to move forward.

Q. What sort of credentialing do you have?

A. I became a Certified Professional Coach from the Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching (www.ipeccoaching.com) in 2012 and have since achieved the Associate Certified Coach designation from the International Coaching Federation. This is the institution that has led the way for quality credentialling standards since 1969 (www.coachingfederation.org)

Q. Do you have references I can contact?

A. Yes! Upon request, I will provide contact info for a few past and current clients who are willing to share their experiences with you.

What you should ask yourself.

1. What do I want from having a coach/why do I want a coach?

2. Am I willing to be coachable and curious?

3. Am I willing to be responsible for the outcome(s)?
